Jamma on Nintendo SanyoEZ Monitor
« on: June 03, 2013, 06:54:56 am »
Hello there, So I recently did a full restore to my Nintendo Popeye Cabinet, I have all the parts but If possible I would rather box the PCB, power supply in case i ever decide to sale it and install a 60 in 1 jamma PCB but as i understand the Sanyo monitor is inverted and Im wondering what parts or components would I need in order to connect it to a jamma board and have it work correctly?

Anyone know of a solution to this or have any links to articles on it? I cant seem to find any, any help would be much appreciated! Thank you

p.s to prevent being flamed I understand there are allot of people who are into preserving the cabs and I agree hence why i wanna keep the sanyoEZ Monitor in there though I have the bar to mount vertically I intend to keep all original parts with it so it can be easily swapped but I find 60 games more entertaining than just popeye..

Finally Found this:
http://cambridgearcade.dyndns.org/?q=node/9

Think this may work? Sounds about right... only thing is that would leave me with the original power supply/transformer sitting on the bottom with a new switching power supply and two power cables as the monitor and marquee can only be plugged into the socket at the bottom..... don't really want 2 plugs for the damn thing anyone know a way around that?

That part looks about right.
It's got the video inversion circuit and you can plug it into your existing harness so you won't have to hack it.

You won't need to have two cords because you would want to tie the power for the switcher into the ac line in the cab before the isolation transformer.

You still got one problem though:
Popeye is a horizontal game and 60-in-1s are vertical

Correct, I already remounted the monitor using the upper horizontal mounting bracket from MikesArcade and filled in the other 6 holes and it looks great :) Thank you for your help! One last question if you dont mind.. I was looking at this power supply : http://www.hollandcomputers.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=5978&idcategory=2071

Think That will work for what I'm wanting to do?

Ok, so you already took care of the monitor orientation, cool.

Yep, any standard 15A switcher like that will do to power the jamma board.
Although how do you plan on actually tying in the power.   The adapter you linked doesn't appear to have a means for that. Actually it looks like its meant to power it off the existing supply pins.
The 60-in-1 has a a molex jack on it, so if you were to disconnect the connection from the existing power unit, you can then use the molex connector to power the new 60-in-1 board
You can do this by hacking the connector off an old computer atx power supply and wiring it up to the new power unit for +5 volts and +12 volts.
Or you can just use an d computer power supply if you have one. You will just need to jump it out for it to power up.
