Maximus Arcade vs. Hyperspin .... which one is better ?

What are the pros and cons ?

Is Hyperspin better because it is FREE ?

It's pretty much personal preference. Maximus Arcade has good qualities, and Hyperspin is more visual than menu. Although both can be customized fully, I personally prefer Hyperspin so my cab doesn't look similar to Windows Media Center. There is a steep learning curve with Hyperspin though.

What do you mean by "better"?

Maximus is known for being simple for noobs.
Hyperspin is known for having lots of flash animation that changes with each game (default setup anyway).

My personal preference is Mala because it's simple, but flexible.
The default layout sucks, so if you're not looking to create your own it's pretty lame.

I perfer Hyperspin, then AtomicFE. When I was getting into this hobby, there was no way to get a key for Maximus, so I never used it. Supposedly Maximus is being supported again, but I haven't seen any official announcements on that.

Hyperspin just looks so good when installed correctly and shelled

Like others says the learning curve is VERY steep but the sites forums have pages of guides to help out
