crane/claw machine help
« on: May 01, 2013, 10:30:55 pm »
Hi all,
Recently picked up a claw machine and for the most part have it all running. My problem is i don't know who made the machine and this makes it hard to look up parts i need to complete the repair. The main parts i need are the drive belts on each end.One appears to go around 3 pulleys and the other around just 2.In the pics you can also see the lock that was used on the front sliding panels.I don't know what kind of lock this is called and haven't found another like it.It goes through a hole on each panel of glass and locks them together. The whole lock comes out with the key and allows the panels to slide. This in turn also allows you to reach through the prize drop chanel and unlock the control panel so it can fold down.I hope someone can identify it from the boards and maybe point me in the right direction so i can learn the claw settings and dip switchs and be able to find someone that sells replacement belts and parts.

I was able to get the "drive belts" from a large o-ring selection at my local non-big-chain hardware store.  They had a big bin with all sorts of sizes.

And the construction and coin mechs definitely scream Grayhound, to me.  So I'm thinking Grayhound Jumbo Skill Crane is what you have, though I could be wrong.

i'm going to try the "o ring" suggestion at my local hardware store this weekend.I took a look at some greyhound machines but haven't found anything with similiar board sets so i'm not sure if thats the brand or not.The dip switch settings they had for greyhound machines didn't really match up as i only have the one set of switchs and they often talk about 2 sets.I might just have an older model or it maybe a different brand.

My local true value was able to hook me up with some o rings and 2 sets of vacuum cleaner belts. To my surprise the vaccum belts were a perfect fit and the crane is working great now.Still no idea about the lock as every place i go and show it to has never seen one like it and can't even point me in a direction to look on the web. Also still need to figure out the claw strength settings and the dip switch settings on the board.

that lock looks like it belongs to some kind of "T-handle lock". if it goes through the glass you might have to try to source which it is. does it have any markings on it?
