Question about Dreamcast video signal
« on: November 10, 2003, 05:07:49 pm »
Hi !!

I have connected the Dreamcast to my arcade machine.
It works fine , but there is a little problem.
I have an standard arcade monitor (15 KHz),and the image of the DC is flickering.
I think it happens because the signal is interlaced, and my monitor can't show it well.
My question is if there is a way to change the video signal of the dreamcast to other mode.

How exactly are you using dreamcast on arcade monitor ?
VGA box hack ?
It should work, all you gotta do is cut the 31"khz vga wire and leave everything else alone.
try www.gamesx.com for pinouts :)

Now if you already did the vga box hack and still flickers then no idea(someone else might know).

Thanks for the answers.

I'm using the RGB cable with the LM1881 composite signal separator.
If anyone else read this and use the hacked VGA Box, please reply this msg and tell me how it works.

How physically?  or How does it look?

physically???  no clue... just followed the directions...

how does it look?  GREAT!  better then a VGA monitor in my opinion!  No flicker or anything!

This is the best part about hacking a VGA box...you don't need any else like (like you would when you hack a SCART cable).  Pictures is clear/stable/strong...no need to video amp or anything else.  I run to a hanatrex polo "25 std res arcade monitor.
