Snowy Picture!!! PLEASE HELP!!!
« on: November 10, 2003, 04:19:41 am »
Hi there i have recently purchased a Killer Instinct arcade game.  Everything works great on it but the monitor.  The monitors colors and everything are great on it.  The problem i have is its a snowy picture.  The whole screen has small snowy things moving around all of the time.  You cant see them in the black color on the screen.  Its only on top of colors you can see it.  Can anyone help me??? Please??  The monitor is a 25" Hantarex Polo.  Thanks.

I was going to help you... but then you double posted an hour apart tsk tsk tsk... I assume you are on the "other" side of the pond to post at 3 and 4 am and wonder why you haven't gotten a response yet (although there are byoac'ers all over the globe/timezones)*shrug*

Well, I'm no expert... but:  have you tried reseating the jamma connector or checked that there isn't a loose connection in the video signal chain/ground?  (be careful before poking around the back of a monitor if you don't know what you are doing... lethal voltages are stored in the tube and there are lots of nasty gotchas back there... )

Also is there any source of interference perhaps?  Flourescent lights with a balky ballast perhaps... or uh... I dunno...that ideas a stretch but who knows...

How about a pic of your snow? =P

Good luck,

Rampy

reSEAT... re-SEAT... I'm going on the loose connection premise... so I thought one could grab the jamma harness on the pcb edge connector thingie... and remove it... blow it with an air canister...check for corrosion (and try to resolve any corrosion issues, i.e. pencil eraser...) and put it back on the board.

*Shrug* It's kinda hit and miss random attempt at troubleshooting on my part...
