black screen after exiting roms

I have been having problems with my mame cabinet for a while now. I had everything setup great  about a year and a half ago but when i turned it on to use it about a year ago and ever since everything works good untill i tried to exit a rom  the screen just turns black and I have to use task maniger to close the rom and it will open back up to the windows screen.

  I am running maximus arcade but it dosnt show up on the task maniger onmy the rom that was/is running.

Now i have just realized if i hold esc for 2-3 seconds it will go back to the front end just fine. Is this a maximus problem?

It is a Maximus problem (feature?).  It does not like ESC to exit a program, that is why the default is end.  Use anything but esc and you will not have this problem.
