Hehe, I actually have that desk.  Assembling it wasn't quite that interesting for me, but I did opt out of the Consume Mass Quantities of Beer step which probably helped.

I have a better idea--cut the ikea desk up and use its parts to build your new mame machine ;D
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...
