go into the bios and be sure to load the default setup and save it.

i'm thinking something is disabled and the OS is freaking out cause it can't find a piece of hardware.

The only thing you need to worry about is Resume on power loss, make sure the LPT port is "Enabled" at 378, Select onboard Video 8 Mb Buffer (that is optional).

Everything else is default.
If your "stuck" at Joshua Kernel Loading.
this could be a hard drive starting to fail.
Joshua looks for this hardware
Intel Chipset. 810 815 or later (845 OS 3.91.3) only VGA mode
Intel Video
Audio Chipset (Standard on all the intel mainboards)
USB chipset
It also looks for the LPT port, if it sees a parallel port at 378 it defaults to VGA (Have to use Dongles to change resolutions) If you "Disable" the port it then defaults to CGA mode only.

That's about it.
Oh and just a FYI, changing hardware does nothing Unless you change the Hard Drive. Then Serial Numbers change. Ultracade never used anything but the hard drive serial Number to make the MCID.  Ultimate Arcade and Arcade Legends used Both motherboard and hard drive as a married set. That's why several Utlimate and AL machines were converted to Ultracades. I have made several posts about these machines over at KLOV forums. Killer systems IMO.

Also I noticed you said you have a sumicom PC. I am sorry. There Junk. These suffer from overheating swollen caps, bad RAM (This is a BIG one) and the CPU's die because of the heat.
If you have a faulty ram stick, Good luck finding a replacement they are shorter than almost every other stick I have seen. (to Clear the CD Drive)
Swollen caps can be fixed, an this is often a cause of several issues, one being the stuck at Joshua loading screen.
But do not fret, there are options. One is to replace that sumicom with a better PC.
