Feedback on Project Marquee Art
« on: February 27, 2013, 10:07:24 pm »
Hi All,

New to the forums, and working on MAME-ing an old VF1 cab - this site has been a fountain of inspiration fo far.  Not sure if this will post correctly, but this is the marquee art that I came up with and was thinking of using - I would love any feedback.  I am thinking of going with a retro-themed cab and naming it "Thingameajig" (a bit kludgy but I like the inclusion of game".  Thanks!

Mike

Welcome aboard, Mike.

I like your choice of name for the cab.

One thing that might throw readers off is the combination of changing font from very simple to very complex and back combined with the color of the font changing.

How would it look if you used the same color for both fonts?

Seems like the reader's eye would be more likely to see "game" as part of the name and less likely to ask, "What's a thin ajig?"

I'm not sure how to read the name "thing-ame-ajig" or "thin game ajig" or "thin game a jig". Don't get me wrong, I like how it is different from the countless "-cade" marquees out there. It has a "The Incredible Machine"-game vibe.

Thanks for the feed back guys.  Yeah, I'm really struggling with the name - at some point I'm going to have to just pick and stick...  I was really trying to stay away from the whole -cade or -mame thing.  I'll change up the fonts/colors and see if it seems any more legible.  Thanks again.
