Sinistar Unleashed
« on: November 06, 2003, 12:51:09 am »
Anybody buy this game for their pc or cabinet ? Is it a fun game ? Does it even remotely resemble the original game or is it fubar ? What control on a gamepad is used to maneuver the ship ? d-pad or the mini analog thumb stick ? Not that I would be using a gamepad as the game would be going in my cab but if its controlled by the mini analog stick then I may have control difficulties trying to play it with my hacked balltop analog stick thus making it not worth buying.

I hadn't heard of that game before. It looks like it was released in 1999. I found a destription on Moby Games that gave it a 2.6/5. Its probably not that good. I'm curious though as Sinistar is one of those games that left a mark on me. It was so hard and nerve racking. It still enjoy the sensation of my stomach tightening whenever I hear "Beward I live!"

I have that game.  It is not bad.  I have not played it in a while, but I remember enjoying it.  It is nothing like the original, except the story line or basic premise.  The description of what you are doing (mining for sinibombs) is the same as well as the reason you are doing it (Sinistar is comming, run, run) and the whole time you are fighting off little buggers shooting at you.

The game is 3d and is a first person flyer/shooter.  It is alot like that game FreeSpace.  The physics are pretty well done and the play is pretty natural.  Oh yea, I forgot.  You are trying to keep the little buggers from building a wormhole/stargate thing.  If they finish the sinistar comes.  The sinistar by the way is some kind of monster or different monsters.  Not a talking dinner plate.

Good game if you see it at a garage sale but I would not spend over $10 for it.  HTH
