I regret buying the PS3, it ended up being an overpriced media player for me. I prefer PC gaming, and you can actually mod the games.
Interesting you mention that, because that the PC gaming reason is what I usually hear against the xbox. More of the xbox library is on PC than PS3. Maybe you don't xbox game either, but having to pay for live and most of the big xbox titles being on PC seems to be the xbox pitfalls, and not as much with the PS3. At least, if you are not into Kinect gaming.
On a honest look at the consoles, PS3 really gets a bad rap. I think it is because they for years were a lot more expensive. When 90% of the games have the same visual performance as a system $200 less, and that at the time HD DVDs were still a possible media. You look at the systems right now, PS3 has a cleaner and easier interface, free online, some good 1st party games that you can't just get on the PC, and a fast blu ray player. And it is still a more reliable machine.
This might sound like an anti xbox post, but I still would probably go with them above sony in a heartbeat if they stopped charging for Live. I know far more xbox gamers online than ps3 gamers, but my online gaming habits are far to erratic to justify paying on a constant basis.
I'm sure the PS4 will have amazing specs but then Sony will put a crappy UI on it and restrict everything so much that it will not be worth it.
Very true, but they way Microsoft has been talking, I think they will be going the same route.
