Experts: monitor repair guy offered to "make" me a 25" digital tri sync today!

So, I talked to a really nice guy in the monitor repair business who does lots of arcade work. I called him to see if he had anything used for me to buy, but all he had was a 28" Hantarex IDTV that is too big for my cab. We got to talking, and he thought it might be possible to modify an existing Kortex digital chassis (??) and mate it to a 24" or 25" tube. At least, I think that's what he said because he was a little hard to understand with his accent. It would cost an arm and leg, but I was wondering if this is really possible and if it's a good idea. I would imagine he would service it this Frankenstein thing if it ever needed it since he built it, but can someone educate me on this possibility?

Do not know who this guy is or where he woud get the tube and the right yoke? Looks like a disastour in the works. I would not normally respond to such a post... but this is highly unlikely.

I would give it a 1~3 month mortality rate.

If it works out, my hat's off to this guy.

Yes, it is possible if he has the right tube and yoke, this would be hard to find, but perhaps he has used tube and a yoke/ The yoke needs to have a horizontal impedance of about 0.24mh, vertical can be 6 to 20 mh.
He will then need to modify sweep caps for the horizontal and likely a dropping resistor for the vertical.
It is still a risky undertaking that I would suggest that would require at least a weeks of burn in with temperature probes in the vertical circuit, horizontal and B+.
At least that is the only way I would put my name on it. On a one off basis not economical and risky. If he has done it before with success, again hat's off, great job!
