Frontend that lists multiple ports of same game
« on: February 04, 2013, 04:14:09 am »
I'm curious if there is a frontend out there that can list and launch all of the roms on my machine in one comprehensive alphabetical list, followed by which port it is, without being sorted by the emulator or system that the rom is for? Ideally, I'm looking for something that would display the games in this fashion:

Abadox - NES/Famicom
Boogerman - Sega Genesis/Mega Drive
Contra - Arcade
Contra - Amistrad
Contra - NES/Famicom
Contra - MSX 2
Contra - PC
Contra 3 - SNES/Super Famicom
Dig Dug - Arcade
Dig Dug - Atari 2600
Dig Dug - Atari 5200
Dig Dug - NES/Famicom
Donkey Kong - Arcade
Donkey Kong - ColecoVision
Donkey Kong - Game Boy

any help or point in the right direction would be great! THANKS!!!

This would be possible with hyper spin by manually adding the games to the XML file. Would take some time depending on how many games you would want to add, though.

GameEx will list all identically named ports of a given game on the info screen for the game.  In this way you can see a preview of the ported game and navigate directly to it if you'd rather play the port.  No configuration necessary; just setup your emulators and associated directories in the same way that you normally would.
