Pushbutton adjustment? - gap between button and microswitch

I have some brand new pushbuttons, but there is about a 1/8" gap between the leg of the pushbutton and the microswitch button.  This means there is a "false" push before the button actually engages the microswitch.  Not sure if this makes sense, but my older pushbuttons don't have this "play" in the button.

Is there a way I can adjust these pushbuttons so the microswitch is touching the plastic on the pushbutton all the time?

Just cheap pushbuttons?  Do the Happ buttons behave the same way when new?

there is always a little bit of space, though not as large as you describe.  a standard cherry switch and happ button has very little slop in it. (maybe 0.02 inch (about the thickness of 4 sheets of paper)) perhaps the switches you are using have a shorter than normal "peg".

if it really bothers you try cutting some plastic shims and super gluing it to the "foot" of the button. be sure to leave a little space, you don't want the button pressed down at all or you are going to run into a situation where you press down the button and the switch stays clicked and won't release.

err... buy better buttons, or if youre doing it really cheap (cant fault anyone for that) , use a soldering iron and carefully melt/stretch the plastic into the position you want
