« on: January 17, 2013, 09:26:45 pm »
Hello to all I just wanted to post a few pics of this bartop that I built for a friend last christmas.  I apologize for not having more build pics as I was trying to get it finished in time for christmas.  Its running mame with MALA front end I used an OptiPac encoder Its at my friends house now so It would be a little hard to get more pics at the moment.  Enjoy always welcome to questions comments.

Interesting shape.
I like the color scheme but the monitor looks a bit small.
What size is the screen? Also I think you should have rounded the sides, that t-molding doesn't look right.

I'm sure your friend is having fun with it.

think its a 17 widescreen.  are you talking about rounding out the sides underneath the control panel??  looking at it now I think that it wouldve matched the control panel better.  tmolding above the monitor is that where youre talking about?

Actually I meant the back where the T-molding is cut.

Yeah youre right n that one.  Thinking back that shouldve been something that i did.  Im not 100% happy with the work.  It was a project to break the ice and something to get me started and actually finish.  Ive enjoyed looking at all of the other custom projects with the custom art etc.  I will try to go in this directon for the next build.

I don't see how the monitor could be small for the cab.  It seems to fill if completely.  However you might mean that the monitor could be bigger eg 4:3 and then the cab would be bigger to fit the taller monitor.

Thanks Termin8tor!  I did learn alot on this first one.  Yeah this monitor is a 16:9 set up.  I have a few 4:3 LCD monitors but as this was a gift and first build I wanted to save the 4:3's for future builds for myself  ;) What I did was start out with the monitor that was used for the bartop and basically build the cab around the monitor size.  I took into account how much room I would need to somewhat snugly fit all of the pc components etc.
