Looking into buying a nintendo Vs. cabinet with some screen issues. Help?

Hello,
I'm new to this forum, I already have 3 arcade cabinets and a pinball machine, I'm looking into purchasing my 4th cabinet.

Its a Vs. Hogans Alley game, I've always wanted a nintendo vs. cabinet

However, the person on the ad claims there is a problem with the screen that causes it to scroll vertically. I've heard that on the back of arcade moniters theres a switch that you can adjust this that may fix this.  The person on the ad said that they've had the game for about 10 years and it just happened recently.

What could possibly be wrong, how much could it cost to fix, and what would I have to do? Thank you

could be a few things.

Two things to check off the top of my head would be the following.

That V-hold is correctly adjusted (pot)
That The vhold pot is working, ie its not cracked snapped etc etc.

Second would be that the SYNC wire connected to the monitor is either A connected or be connected to the correct spot.

Either way if its the right price this wouldn't be a hard fix, i tend to look for cabinets with small problems like these as they are easy to fix and to someone that doesn't know its just too expensive.

Either way if you are wanting to get into the arcade collecting scene this is a good starting point to get used to working with circuits as you don't wanna rely on people to do this work for you as its a dying trade.

Sanyo's are excellent monitors.

if this monitor has never had a cap kit it needs one badly.
a Sanyo will look it's best after a cap kit and a color and wite balance done.


like others have said you will need to learn how to fix your machines to save money.
the only issue is, a Sanyo is not a recommended first chassis to do your first cap kit on.

plus the chassis is allot more fragile than others and if handled to rough it can break.
