I have tried to find later versions of the ROM's but there doesn't seem to be any that I can find. Take Cheyenne, I can only find version 1.0 of it anywhere. I think others have gotten the Exidy games to work with later versions of MAME but I can't figure it out
I'm not talking about the revision of the arcade board.
MAME roms do not stay the same over time. They are renamed, re-organized, redumped, etc.
There is a good chance that a rom from the time MAME v.89 will not work with MAME v.145
You need roms intended for MAME v.145
A lot of old ones will work (if no changes were ever made to them), but a fair number will not.

So MAME is now looking for things that aren't present in your old roms.
A ROM newer than v.113u4 will probably work, but it's best to have ones that match your version of MAME.
