I am doing a cap kit and flyback replacement for a friend on his WG U5000 chassis. It does both 25K and 15K by changing a jumper on the chassis.
I really want to do some testing after I finish the work, but I don't have the tube that was mated to this chassis. (He shipped the chassis to me, because I have a bit more experience with soldering.)
I have always heard you need a compatible yoke to work with your chassis, and that damage might occur if you try, for example, a tube that was mated with a standard-res chassis and a chassis that is medium-res. Since this has the standard-res jumper, would it hurt to try the chassis on one of my tubes with standard-res WG K7000's or Hantarex Polo currently installed if the U5000 jumper is set to 15K? (They are 25" tubes and the U5000 chassis came from a 25" medium-res monitor.)
If this wouldn't work, I do have a medium-res monitor in my Gauntlet Legends cab, but it has a 27" tube. (Neotec NT-2701, medium-res only chassis.) Would that work if the jumper stays on 25K, although I'd assume it wouldn't fill the entire screen?
Thanks for any help guys!
