I just got my arcade machine back from a confinscation room at a PD after it was basically stolen from me a year and a half ago and now my monitor won't turn on, the comp turns on and the cabinet lights turn on but the monitor stays off.
The fuse is still good. It is possible that the monitor was damaged during shipping or perhaps while in storage but I don't see how.
Anyone know of a way to check the monitor to see if it's broken?
Any help would be appriciated.

Bad shipping could have been a problem. Monitors don't like rough handling. Storage could be a problem especially if the game was put in an unheated or damp area. Is it possible mice or other rodents could have gotten into the cabinet and eaten a wire?

Get a voltmeter and check for 120 volts AC at the monitors' power connector. If power is getting to that connector and your monitor is still dead then the monitor is in need of repair.

Is it a PC or arcade monitor? Well my monitor is a 19" with the same problem. Trust me it is cheaper to buy a new one if it is more than a wire problem! You can get a nice 19" new PC monitor with a 3 years warranty for $190. You are looking to pay atleast that with no real good warrenty in a repair. www.tcwo.com has some good monitors at nice prices and it is like $8.00 for ground shipping on one.

Now if you have an arcade monitor 19" it is the same deal for the most part you can get a new one with a warranty for under $300 now I am not sure of the shipping cost of it since I just pick that kind of stuff up but I am sure it is a bit more expensive.

Still overall with price drops on smaller 19" arcade\pc monitors it is almost always cheaper or more worth it to buy a new one in the long run!

Actually if it's an arcade monitor, it's usually cheaper to repair them since they are for commercial use. Shipping charges on say a 25" arcade monitor will eat you alive. One time I had FOUR brand new 25" monitors in a row busted to hell by UPS!
