Mame general input config problem
« on: December 07, 2012, 07:38:21 am »
Hey everyone,

I am having a weird problem I can't seem to solve. I have a IPAC4 and mame .147 I recently updated to . My problem is when I go into general input config menu  everything listed is showing kbd then input for example kbd up for scrolling up in the ui menu.  I do have a keyboard also connected to my control panel, but never had things listed this way before. When I remove the keyboard this problem goes away after a reboot of mame. For example ui up will just say up and not kbd up. I was able to use both before, but don't understand what's going any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh I tried bringing over the cfng default prior to updating and also deleting it to start from scratch, but still same issue of standard keyboard overwriting control panel input names to kbd "input"

Are you sure it doesn't say kbd 1?

If you have multiple keyboards enabled in mame.ini, MAME is only responding to Keyboard #1. (unless the controls have been mapped to kbd 2)
Open up mame.ini and change the line multiple keyboards=0
Not sure if that's the exact wording of the line, don't have it here at work.

So I just checked the naming and it actually just says kbd "input type" what's even more weird is when I go into the mame.ini and change multiple keyboards to 1 it actually disables the use of my keyboard but keeps the control panel joysticks working fine when i put a zero it enables both, but changes all the input names to the kbd "input type" both keyboard and Ipac are connected to seperate usb ports, but not sure why all the naming gets overwritten this wasn't an issue before I updated and not sure what's changed now? where do i look to see were controls have been mapped to a certain kbd ? Thanks again for all your help.

So if they both work when you have multiple keyboards set to 0, what is the problem?
