List building in MameWah
« on: October 30, 2003, 12:52:14 pm »
I finally got sick of having only one long list of games in mamewah, so I decided it was time to use multiple lists.
I knew about both catver.ini and listinfo and was about to write some scripts to build custom lists based on that information, when I decided first to check this board to see what others had done in that regard...

The answer is MameWah does it all. While it's not obvious form the documentation (well, it wasn't to me) MameWah will parse the listinfo and the catver.ini (if you put it in your mame folder) and not only will display that info on the screen (if your layout is designed to show it), but mamewah has a listbuilding engine that allows you to create custom lists based on the catver and listinfo stuff.

Once you know it's there, it's pretty easy to make a list with no Mahjong or adult games for example.

Maybe most of you knew this, but I had always glossed over the list building options in mamewah as "something I'll look at later", I had not realized how powerful and automated it could be.

Thanks MinWah! The nore I use MameWah, the more I like it!
