  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
Hi! Someone tested a real nice arcade distribution over 90 minutes in 8 parts.

The distribution "Eine Linux Arcade Distribution" was/is? available on the german Arcadezentrum board. .

I wonder if anybody here has the DVD-iso?

I did a quick test on virtualbox as i don't have a 15khz monitor and so far this distro looks like a very promising alternative to groovyarcade.

My only gripe with these distros is that they have become increasingly large in size. I mean, whatever happened to having a a lean, mean, ultra fast loading linux distro?

btw, welcome to the site mclaire :)

I think there is a lot of additional (unnecessary?) software on the image. From the arcadeinfo thread (german):

There is much to do and much to clean up. Its still a draft.

By booting Lubuntu or others distribution you get a similar result. The boot time depends on your hardware (drive, dvd quality). Try a bootable USB stick or make an installation. I installed it on a harddrive and it boots in few seconds - same as Lubuntu.

Making a bootable USB stick from the ISO image - A GNU LINUX ARCADE DISTRIBUTION 0.92:

New enhanced Version v0.92b36 (03-sept-2013)

- change to a non PAE kernel. Older hardware (notebooks etc.) will now boot and run just fine.
- improved 15 khz boot options.
- added Nintendo Triforce emulator (dolphin, Triforce branch).
- a few fixes to support LCD/TFT/PC monitors and LCD TVs.
