I just got my NOS 25" arcade monitor and hooked it up with the ultimarc Video Amplifier. First I had a very distorted picture which I could get right by cutting between the moons and connecting hs/vs (see the ultimarc page for reference:
http://www.ultimarc.com/vidamp.html) I do get a moire-effect though. It's not obvious while playing,
but one coloured backrounds (like the windows background) make it pretty obvious. I'm using an ATI HD4350 with the calamity CRC driver.
It was way worse with the provided VGA cable that came with the amplifier and got a little better with another cable I had at home but I don't think that's the problem... I'm not sure how to test it. I booted the monitor without a signal attached and used the background light amp to make a white or black picture and it was clear and had no moire-effect. here is a picture of the monitor in action so you can see what I'm talking about. Maybe anyone can provide me with information how I can actually find out what causes the problem (monitor - amplifier - computer - whatever):
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/2932654/IMAG0773.jpgThe monitor is made by "Monitor" (yes, that's the company name). They are supposed to be the successor of Hantarex and my monitor seems to be almost identical to an Hantarex Polo. Maybe someone knows more about that then I do!
Any help would be highly appreciated!
Maybe you have an idea?
Thanks in advance,
Olli
edit: Comparing it to chassis on jomac.net.au it's identical to the Hantarex Polo chassis.
