Do I need a Cap kit?

I have a Matsushta TM202G. Below is a simulation of the image when hooked up to a nuked PolePosition II board:



In the upper left corner, there is no image what so ever. Here is what I assume it will look like when there is a video signal:



Does this warrant a CAP kit? or is the monitor FUBAR?

(BTW, the monitor has been discharged    )

arcade pr PC monitor?  have you seen it with an actual signal or are you just approximating what you think it might look like?  just curious.

If that's what it looks like with an ACTUAL video signal from the game board then it could be one of two possiblities. One is that a cap kit would be needed. The other possibility is that the picture tube has had very rough handling and is damaged internally. My expert opinion would be to try a cap kit first since they are so cheap.

It is an arcade monitor.

The images posted are simulations. Its the best way for me to describe what is happening. The PolePosition image is what I assume it will look like with a video signal (just to show the upper left corner.

A cap kit certainly would help. Remember, your are working with a monitor that's 18 years old and the caps have been baked dry from the heat over the years.

You should also check to make sure there are no high magnetic devices next to it (strong magnets)

As far as I've seen when it comes to cap kits, it fixes global problems.. but this one is different.. it's localized to one spot...
