Cant get Mamewah to work...
« on: October 18, 2003, 04:11:24 pm »
OK here are the steps that I have done:

Download Mamewah v0954b & Mame v075b.
Unziped Mamewah to C:/MameWah
Unziped/Extracted Mame to C:/MameWah
Put all Roms, Samples, etc to folders.
Go to Start ----open MameWah

With all this I get the screen you see below.  I cant do anything since the screen is frozen and I see no Options menu like the Mamewah Readme files says to go to.

Help?

Take a look at the layouts.txt file and make sure that all the layout file names are correct.

The layout file is how it was when it was downloaded.  I didnt change a thing from the time I downloaded, unzipped, populate sample, rom art files and run mamewah.  So I doubt this would be the problem.  It has to be something that I am missing... probably something really basic/simple. :)

You more than llikely forgot unzip the layout.zip file intop a c:\mamewah\layout directory.
?the installer doesn't do this step for you. I made some suggestions to minwah, so hopefully he'll soon change the installer to take care of that.

Either unzip LAYOUTS.ZIP as papasch suggested...

Or preferably, download the v0.962 update, overwrite the EXE and you don't need to unzip the layouts.zip file (it will default to the Classic 640x480 layout).

Just like Minwah says.... I had the same thing the first time I tried to use MameWAH and thats what I did to get it to look right.

Thanks you guys... it looks like it works now :)
Now... when I do open Mamewah a screen opens but I dont see the Options menu (which the instructions tell me to go to first)... how do I navigate through this screen?

You need to hit '2' :)

Can I recommend once again upgrading to v0.962 now (if you haven't already), so you don't have to re-configure if you choose to upgrade later...
