In the files folder, open up the EMU1.cfg and it should look something like this :-

;MAMEWAH v0.96 EMULATOR 1 CONFIG

;LIST GENERATION SETTINGS
ROM Path = C:\MAME\ROMS
ROM Extension = ZIP
List Generation Method = 3

;EXECUTION SETTINGS
Emulator Executable = C:\MAME\MAME.EXE
Send ROM Path = True
Send ROM Extension = False
Use Long Filenames = False
Show DOS Box = 2
Default Options =
Extra Options #1 =
Extra Options #2 =
IPC Filename / Path =

;MISC SETTINGS
Emulator Title = MAME
Artwork #1 Image Path = C:\MAME\SNAP
Artwork #2 Image Path = C:\MAME\FLYERS
Artwork #3 Image Path =
Artwork #4 Image Path =
Artwork #5 Image Path =
Artwork #6 Image Path =
Artwork #7 Image Path =
Artwork #8 Image Path =
Artwork #9 Image Path =
Artwork #10 Image Path =
Artwork #1 Filename to Replace =
Display Clone Info (in Custom Lists) = False

make the changes and run mamewah, now press 2 and go to game list options and then refresh gameslist you should now be getting somewhere. Of course you can do all these changes within mamewah by going thru the various options, once you know your way around.

Good Luck

The mamewah site has a link to Stuzza's guide (I think it's in the news section, too lazy to look it up)
Follow that and you should be in business.
The easiest part to forget is to generate the ROM list from the mamewah interface.

If you are a MAMEWAH newb, I would suggest configure it from MAMEWAH's option menus, as papaschtroumpf suggested.
