Monitor making strange noise
« on: October 15, 2003, 04:45:11 pm »
Hey:

I have a 29" Hitachi arcade monitor in a Neo-Candy 29 arcade cabinet.  It's been working great for about a year.

Recently, it has started making a rather loud buzzing noise when it is first turned on.  After it has warmed up for about 3 minutes or so, cycling the power on the monitor causes the buzzing noise to go away.

The buzz noise itself is not the normal high-pitched sound that most 15kHz monitors make, but rather a lower frequency buzzing that seems to be in the 60 to 100 Hz range (roughly).  It sounds vaguely electrical in nature (not quite like a spark gapping, but close).

Any ideas on what this might be and how I might fix it?  Should I record the sound and post it for y'all to hear?

Thanks
