O.K.........

Well, that's definitely better than a hair lasso.

And provides a new definition for crash and burn. :P

I've also seen shows on some discovery network about scientists building insectlike aircraft. Apparently they've missed the obvious solution- contact cement.

Man, this is gonna stick with me all day! ;D

You could use the matches that you can strike on any surface.  That would make for an interesting crash...

It's a waste of time. Half the flies don't recover from the freeze, and  the ones that do wont lift the plane.

Even lighting the match didn't motivate them.

you actually did it ??...  ;) ;) ;)

hmmm.. if half the flies doesn't recover... that means you freeze them too long...

or catch more flies.... haaa haa haa....

or maybe you didn't split the match thin enough.... haa haa...

or maybe light the match... that will encourage them to fly... haa haa haa....

ok... I'm going nuts...  :P :P

WTF ? ??

I remember back in summer camp we used to catch flys and tie a hair lasso around their necks to make a pet fly.  I know sounds a little sick  :P

The trick to catching them is that you wait until they land, and then quickly swipe your hand (as if you are catching them in mid air) about 2 or 3 inches above where they are.  They instintively launch upwards when they feel the change in air pressure (your hand coming at them) and you basically do just catch them in mid-air.   Quite easy.

To stun them, we would just throw them onto a table top.  If you do this close enough, they literally bounce off the table, and get knocked out for like a minute.  Again sounds sick I know...but always worked.   I guess you would still have to freeze them as you will need to glue at least 4 flys all at once.

The funny thing is, the thing doesn't fly, but a shreiking demon suddenly swoops down and carries YOU straight to hell...  :P

This smacks of something from a Photoshop contest.  I'd bet this is on Somethingawful.com (too well done to be from Fark.)  Either that or Maxim...  I especially like the part about the flies being so happy.  Bet they're just ecstatic when you get bored and pull them off, as their legs shatter and snap off.

Next time you're in a park, don't bother bringing rollerblades--just whack a couple of squirrels with a rock, and strap them to your shoes!  A miracle is happening--the helpful squirrels carry you along with smiles on their faces!  WHEEE!!!!

Wha.. Hey! You mean it doesn't really work? I found it on the internet, it has to be real! Maybe it's one of Leonardo da Vinci's failed experiments.

Geez! The squirrels didn't work either!!!! Anyone have a recipe for squirrel pancakes?

No, its real.  In fact I've seen it before on some tv show.  This guy made a tiny biplane out of balsa wood, and glued some flys to both wings, and the thing flew!  I'm not sure how airodynamic a cut up match is going to be.  My guess is you have to start with a plane that can actually fly (is airodynamic).  Then glue the flys on it to keep it in the air.

LOL 1up, I loved your first comment about the demon picking you up instead!

Okay, here's an updated version of the Fly Plane. This model is more aerodynamic and features a bit more horse power. The flys are sure to have much more fun playing with this version.

New Fly Plane ;D
