Newbie question: Hantarex MTC900 anode

The Monitor is a Hantarex MTC900 and I live in Europe.

I want to paint my cabinet and after reading several posts and "Project Arcade", I understand that it is safe to move the monitor without discharging it, as long as I don't touch anything inside it.

The problem is, that the wire from the anode to the fly back transformer touches the frame. I don't want to discharge the monitor, just temporarily remove it from the cabinet for cleaning and do some painting.

Is it unsafe to touch the frame and remove it from the cabinet?

Hi Grantspain,

That's also what i was thinking, but i friend of mine told me, that the voltage in the wire, could jump trough the frame due to the fact, that the rubber of the wire isn't thick enough.

Hmmm, i guess I have to ask someone who is more experienced in these matters to help me remove the monitor. High voltages kind of creeps me out.

Is there anyone in or near Amsterdam who has experience with hantarex monitors?

I repair these on a daily basis,I can assure you that there is no chance of you getting shocked from touching the frame
Even if there was a problem with the insulation of the anode lead then it would have already discharged to earth via the frame
