Vertical Screen
« on: October 26, 2012, 04:50:50 pm »
Hi everyone,

I am thinking about doing a small vertical bartop and was wondering if anyone used a wide screen for the vertical or do you just use a normal 4:3 screen? Any drawbacks from using the widescreen rotated? I have a notebook that would make a really good mame machine.

Thanks!

The drawback of using a wide screen monitor vertically is that there will be some dead space at the top and bottom of the screen if the vertical game is shown without stretching it to fill the screen.    This can be masked with a bezel that accounts for the dead area but overall you are better off with an old style 4:3 screen that will give you the most display for your vertical game.
