Well, couple of reasons. I just bought a laptop and already have a ton of toys. I spent some time on a 3DS XL over the weekend and that system is a primitive joke meant for small children. If I'm wrong about the Wii U, I'll pick one up in a year.
If someone wants the pre-order for what I paid for it ($350? + 8.25% sales tax) I'll be happy to change the shipping address to your home.
From what i read and people telling me Nintendo is stepping up this system meaning its going towards the crowd of xbox and ps3, im sure when the other systems come out since there not until the spring or later they will captialize on the mistakes nintendo has since they came out so soon if any at all
Eh... not really.
I've stated this numerous times on multiple forums. Nintendo is on a ~5 year life cycle while Microsoft and Sony are on a ~10 year one. The Wii was underpowered on purpose because, at the time, HD hadn't hit full saturation yet and Nintendo could sell their console cheaper and still make a big profit. So yeah The Wii is looking pretty dead now, but the Wii U is coming out which is slightly more powerful than the 360 and ps3. Meanwhile the other two guys new consoles are two years or more out from release... tack on another year of a slow launch from those two as well as developers getting used to the new hardware and we are almost at the 5 year mark again. So yeah I'm sure that the new xbox and playstation will blow the wii u away in terms of new specs, but just a couple of years after they are released nintendo will be waiting with it's new console.
Also those two aren't exactly good at learning from what Nintendo does. The Kinect and Move, pitiful attempts to cash in on a motion control demographic that neither company fully understood, is proof of that.
That doesn't mean that you should run out and get a wii u or anything, it's just that Nintendo is in a completely different league from the other two. It's apples and oranges so one company's success or failure isn't going to have anything to do with the others at this point.
If you see something in the Wii U you like or you enjoy Nintnedo games then buy one, but don't let what the other guys are doing/planning effect your decision an any way, becasue quite frankly what they do doesn't matter in terms of your enjoyment of the console.
