isolation transformer substitute

can you use  a ups as an isolation transformer? i believe  it does the same thing?

i tried  to  search both Google and several forums but no good results.

No.  Most UPSes are not isolating designs.  They also often put out really crummy power that might annoy the monitor.

$20 can get you a brand new isolation transformer from happ. (sans shipping)

if you need one perhaps a posting in B/S/T asking for one could get you a used one cheap.
