Draw your cab - 2d
« on: September 26, 2012, 03:53:05 pm »
Hey guys

Any tips on a good 2d "architecture" like software? I need to draw my cab in order to get the real feel of the wood I will need.

Tried google sketch up but that ain't no easy task

I know is't not be the answer you are looking for, but for 2d, I always personally just found it easiest to just draw it out on graphing paper.

Yeah, I think I'm going with that as well!

Just wondering, there must be a software for this!

I just use photoshop or illustrator.

You can set the units to inches instead of pixels and then if you need to you can print things out to scale.

It isn't really needed unless your cab has a lot of curves in it though.  Like he said, just draw it.  Also giant hunks of cardboard are your friend.  On a few cabs I cut out the whole side in cardboard to scale, just to see how things are going to look.

Thanks a lot! I did use illustrator to check out the size of the boards and now I'm going to draw it there.

Thank you very much!!

AutoCAD is the best for 2D drawing.  Extremely easy to use.
