CP Wizard and multi threading in MAME
« on: September 24, 2012, 12:20:10 pm »
Hey guys. I really want to use cp wizard to finish off mame in my cab but the automatic pause of mame when pressing the cpwizard button and unpause of mame when pressing the exit cpwizard button does not work when multi threading is enabled in MAME.

Does anyone know how to fix this or a way around it?

Sorry I have not looked into this issue before. Is there any reason you need to run MAME in multi-threading mode? Is there any noticable performance gain?

Yeah man multi-threading fixes a lot of performance-related issues if your pc is powerful enough.  It tends to fix things like sound stuttering on those high-end games and there's an overall performance increase as well.  (Although it's a slight one.)

Hey thanks for the reply I'm glad I got ahold  of you. I'm running an I5 2400 with mame and yea there is def a performance gain. Like in cyber commando, without MT on the sound starts skipping when a battle gets heated. Also the same issue with Gauntlet legends. MT on no problems. Off, sound skips and frame drops now and then.
