Putting together some artwork, and it seemed to grow rather organically.  I eventually arrived at these two, and can't decide.

One is cleaner, the other more interesting?

any thoughts?

Option 1.

You're gonna have trouble with the marquee retainer covering the feet of the guys along the bottom, plus it detracts from the name which is the whole reason for the marquee.

Agreed option 1, the small characters in option 2 will get lost at that size. Looks great.

With the name, I actually thought it was a gun-only machine until I saw the characters on the marquee. Clever pun, but somewhat misleading.

yer, I used those characters cos they are really the only ones I could find in hi-res.  at first i wanted to make it a mario-outrun-sf-dk-marvel etc... to show it was "all", however the mix of eclectic styles just doesn't work, and well, these were hi-res.

I am Scottish, and my nickname here is "schott" so I came up with "schott-gun" or "Jock-Stick", however jock stick sounded a little dodgy...

the explosion started out more as a plasma effect, however grew and does add to the "gun" illusion.  well, as long as it looks nice ;-) and it's done at 300 dpi real size, so should print ok.

now for the sides....

I think this looks great... really like the colors.

One thing that pops out to me, is how wide the title is.  It make it look thin in my opinion.

It might look good to have the "Schott-Gun" larger and centered, and the "Arcade" centered below.  You might even drop "Arcade" all together.

Complete mini arcade cabinet plans available.

Good point, Arcade may be pretty redundant considering what you are building

Mame-arcade, ultimate arcade.... someone comes and asks "why do you have schotte-gun" written on your computer case.  answer "it's the schotte-gun arcade!"....

I am mulling, i appreciate the suggestions.  I am also thinking about how much space i will lose top and bottom to retainers.

At the moment I have not found anywhere in mainland Europe of UK that sells them.

I have not tried ultra hard, however i tried arcadeshope.de and ultimarc, and happ.. and google... no joy yet

Alternatively the word arcade could be much smaller under Schott Gun

Yer, I''ll have a play.

To do this you have to be computer nerd, electrician, graphic artist and woodworker.

I will admit to being computer nerd and woodworker, however graphics not my strong suite.

I have done some side art, for concept review, again based on the only high res I can find.

Back to the workshop now.  Realised last night that with the screen in place, and no bevel / control back panel, that i can easily slide my hand under for GT 2k.

afterwards there will be nowhere near enough space, as the screen is quite upright.  so I almost want to leave the hole!

i plan to have shared buttons there, like start / coin / volume and USB inputs, and then make the control panel removable.

that way i can insert a badlands, or ramparts CP without having to double up on the shared buttons.

however it hurts to have to build a very deep panel just for GT..... keep the hole, fill the hole, keep the hole.... it has to be filled otherwise will look daft... but it is so good like that  :banghead:

At least you have enough beer to make it through the build so you should be ok

that's just this weeks.. a few ppl come over every day, so progress is slow cos they want to play!

i reckon it will be (in beer years), 40 crates until it's "finished".

at least the beer here is cheap!

I definitely prefer option 1.  Too many cabs have a billion elements in the art and it just looks like a huge cluster of images.
