Wells d9400 keeps blowing H.O.T.
« on: September 18, 2012, 09:48:28 pm »
I'm working on a d9400 that keeps blowing the Horiz out and the drive transistor. It stays on with a stretched screen for about 1-2 mins then blows them. Replaced FBT. Same thing. Ive been a consumer tv tech for 20 years but new to the amusement industry. These aren't Sony, toshiba, etc... So I'm not totally familiar with the common problems of these d9200's. Got the korteks down easy, but these wells are POS's. Thanx!

I know the digital Korteks have the S-correction switches (they're all MOSFETs on the Kortek, IIRC, but one may be a relay on the WG) go out somewhat frequently, which can do this.  Obviously a dead cap in the horiz out could do it, too.

What frequency are you running it at?

I don't know as much about the WG, either, but yes, everybody seems to agree that they're a mess.  They're famous for taking out half the components on the board when they break.

had the same thing some time back and the deflection yoke caused it,removed yoke and it was burnt out in one area

lots of other things cause it though, mosfets are a common problem
