Neo-geo CP conversion
« on: September 09, 2012, 01:13:50 am »
Greetings from Canada.

I am converting a generic Romstar Mame cabinet to Neo-Geo.
Got an original neo-geo comversion marquee, all artwork side letters, etc.

As the cabinet is not as big as a SNK one, the CP is smaller too (23 x 8 in).
My idea is to use the sega buttons templates with a classic NG CP black around them

This is how far I got with inkscape (svg)

Can anybody please help me to make it the right size?

Thanks!!

Welcome aboard, Oxy.

Your .ZIP file size is 0kb.
Downloaded size is 0kb.
Tried to open it and got an error message.

Verify it's OK on your HDD and try uploading it again.
(Modify button upper right of your post.  You can remove the old attachment and attach the working one.)

. . .
Can anybody please help me to make it the right size?

Before we start, are you SURE about putting the NeoGeo logo where the joysticks go?  Joystick's gotta move -- makes a pretty big hole in the logo.  If the idea is to use them as dust washers, you should print them elsewhere or you'll expose bare CP when you push on the joystick and the washer moves.

When I opened the file and un-grouped it, the large black rectangle size is 22.151" x 8.310".   When you switch units to pixels, it looks like it is about 90 pixels per inch.

I'm not that good at this, but here's one way that might work:

1. Open the file.
2. Press Control+A to select all.
3. Group all
4. Ensure newly grouped object is selected.
5. Set units on top bar to px (pixels)
6. Click on the padlock (close it) to "lock" the aspect ratio.
7. Click in the box to the right of the padlock and enter "2400" (8" x 300DPI)
8. Deselect the padlock, ungroup until the large black background rectangle is ungrouped from the other elements.
9. Resize and reposition the black background horizontally as desired.
10. Press Control+A to select all.
11. Group all.
12. Ensure newly grouped object is selected.
13. File - Document Properties - (+) Resize page to content . . . - Resize page to drawing or selection.
14. Save
15. Export to printer's required format.
16. Profit???

Ok this is the key to do it right!

I believe that all buttons are also wrong
So how many pixels will be the size for example the player 1 & 2 white buttons?

Anybody know how many pixels size are the LCD windows?

>>>>>>>are you SURE about putting the NeoGeo logo where the joysticks go?

Yeah each one of the joysticks will have a hole, the neo-geo logos are going to be removed.

Standard button hole size is 1 1/8".  1.125" x 300dpi = 337.5 pixels
