The N64 007 Goldeneye watch $7
« on: September 06, 2012, 10:52:12 pm »
Just thought some of you guys might appreciate this one:

It is just a custom Artscow watch with a custom made N64 Goldeneye background. The results are awesome. Of course you can put in whatever you want for a background.

Linky to make your own: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=327754

I'm getting one.  8)

Looks great! But why so many hoops to buy one? Do they wanna sell stuff or not? Ok, I see. It's a 'cafe press' type place...

Just signing up now, I haven't owned a watch in years (",)

That is so cool.  Want.

I have attached the template they use (goldeneyewatchtemplateb.png) and a screen from the game (Watch_Laser.png).

Would a Photoshop Guru  please make the dial indicators white like in the game?

I am going to try myself but my Photoshop skills are limited.

Thanks!!!

EDIT: The PSD  for the Goldeneye Watch Template can be downloaded here http://rware.deviantart.com/art/Goldeneye-Watch-Template-305610737
I have to check it out later (No PS here)  but with that it shouldn't be that difficult.

I have not worn a watch in years either but still want one of these.

Here is my first attempt. I am going for the "Unarmed" look in N64 Goldeneye.

It's the only one that does not have a weapon shown so it works without the crosshair.

goldeneye_watch_template_by_rware-d51yar5-Unarmed_mod.png is a Fireworks PND with all the different layers still in it.

I made the dial indicator white like in the game.

I also dimmed the blue armor meter like when you have no armor on in the game.

I need to add the Unarmed text where the word "Laser" in "Watch Laser" used to be.

Any ideas on what font is that?

Any reasonably close font will probably work.  It's going to be too small for anyone to notice it's not an exact match.

I did all the text on this one so the font would be the same.

That looks really nice. I also had noticed that the clock ticks were darker than the game, so I call this a real improvement. Makes me wish I had spent a little time to customize mine before ordering.

That's freakin awesome.  I use to rape some people in this game.  I had the spawn pattern memorized on one multiplayer level that we played a lot.  Spawn camped the ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- out of some people I was banned from playing that level with my friends.  LOL

Goldeneye is definitely one of my favorite games. I'm also getting one for a friend. We used to play a lot of  4 Player multiplayer and eventually discovered the joys of the Slappers only!weapon mode. This "Unarmed" watch face mod is in reference to those good old days.

It's kind of ugly to be perfectly honest.  If it worked I'd be all for it, but it's just a piece of paper.

There are some really nice looking ones on there though... the umbrella (Resident Evil) and Assasin's Creed designs are particularly nice.

I had a buddy who when in automatics he would usually win just by kneeling and slapping. You would have to pretty good to get him. Anyway, he called his method the "period maker" because hit left your character with a bloody pelvis.

I liked the Umbrella one. Assasin's creed was a bit to bright for my taste. You should make yourself a mortal kombat watch, I bet it would look pretty awesome.  ;)

Odd Job is also pretty cheap with the slaps because he is so short.

As for the look of the watch this is not something I plan on wearing out on the town. I don't even wear watches any more.

It is more of a novelty item for my desk and a cool gift for my friends.

I am still good friends with two of the three people I used to "Bond" with so I'll be ordering three.  8)

Odd Job was banned from our games, I think he is still listed as one of the cheapest multiplayer options in all of gaming.

Yeah they used the current "revolution era" Ac logo which is a tad loud, but I still like the simple lines.  The only problem is people would think you joined the free-masons.

Can't do a MK watch justice unfortunately.  Only three colors exist in the MK universe, Black, Gold and Red (optionally green if you are a non-human).  The watch itself would never match the face.

I like the idea of these watches though.  The price is right.  I might make some faces and order them as a novelty.  Too bad I've fully embraced the digital... a watch with hands?  What is this the 1800's?

The idea of a golden eye watch brings back memories.  Dear god me and my friends must have wasted at least a solid year of our lives on that thing.  Stupid remote mines.

Stop the presses!  They have a fob-watch version as well.

Tons of more options with that.  I can see a Dr. Who time lord watch coming.

I checked the game and the Unarmed one I did can be tweaked a bit more.

1. The round dots need a lighter shadow
2. The position of the text could be better

I think I am finally done.

1. I lightened the shadows around the dots
2. Repositioned the text to be more like the game
3. I flipped the long dial indicators at the 3 and 9 hour to orient the shadows correctly.
4. Moved the dots and lines (dial indicators)  to line up with the dots in the online watch previews. The dots are not shown but I used them to test the alignment.

One more change that I missed is 12 and 6 hour markers needed to be moved in closer.  :banghead:

Of course this is after I ordered. Oh well lets see if I can change or cancel the order.

Coincedentally my 11 year old came to me with a copy of Goldeneye from the basement and asked if he could try it.  He still has to ask permission for M games although it's approaching time for that rule to go away on the N64.  He spent a good amount of time playing it yesterday.   :)

The killing fighting techniques in Goldeneye are probably more practical than those in Mortal Kombat ;D

Yeah, they got the okay for Mortal Kombat quite a while ago.  That's not real violence.  Sniping an actual person in the back of the head?  That's M violence.

We played Conker until it got to that ridiculous part with the electric eels and spinning fan blades underwater.  My understanding is that section was removed from the Xbox re-release?

Does anyone else hate it when they find out they have something they could potentially make money from selling but would really rather not sell?  I've got the game, manual and box which, judging by completed listings on ebay, I could potentially get near $100!

If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

I was working at Best Buy when the N64 finally disappeared from our shelves.  We had about 10 copies of Conkers that didn't sell on clearance for like $10 and I think we just shipped them back to HQ.   I am f'ing pissed I didn't buy all 10 of them now.   :lol

Another one like that was Nascar 2003 by Sierra/Papyrus.  You could get big money for a cd key of that for a long time. after it got d/ced and iracing bought the rights.

I only ever saw one copy of it and it was $14.99 day of release new.  It was kinda funny but nowhere near the legendary status it's taken on.  Only thing I can figure is college kids today tricked their parents into buying it for them when they were 9.

Conker's was a big Blockbuster rental title.  That's probably how a lot of the kids remember it.  Some N64 games were put heavily into rental rotation and barely into retail sales.  That did work so they decided to try rental only for a few titles, but they were crappy games, so those failed.  Those Blockbuster exclusives are some of the harder N64 games to get now.

I received the watches I did.

I like how they look as a set.

Ok, I have mine now. It's all you could expect for a seven dollar watch. Unfortunately, the wrist band is 'one size fits most'. By most, they mean all you fat bastiches. It's too loose on me :duckhunt

Pity, because I actually was going to wear it, but to adjust the band would probably mean a trip to the jewellers or summink, which would cost magnitudes more than the watch...
