all i want for xmas is to play games in full screen mode
« on: October 09, 2003, 07:22:34 am »
maybe someone can help me out with this. i'm running mamewah, and allllll i want is the games to take up the entire screen (or at least close to it) whenever i play them. instead, for many a game, i get a 2 or 3 inch black border around the screen. i've tried using numerous cmd line switches to set the display to the entire screen, but no luck so far. any ideas? thanks a lot...

Using '-r 640x480 -hwstretch' should fill the screen more or less if your (PC) monitor is adjusted correctly at this res.

You didn't say what video card or monitor type you are using, that would be helpfull...

Minwah,

Under what menu option do you put the '-r 640x480 -hwstretch' commandline?

Thanks.

Minwah,

Under what menu option do you put the '-r 640x480 -hwstretch' commandline?

Thanks.

Emulator Settings > Execution Settings > Default Options :)

Or just edit your MAME.INI file and make:

resolution 640x480
hwstretch 1

hmm...every game plays has its own res though. the -r -hws thing might work great for one game, and not so great for another. is there any way to have a variable argument for -r? could it just be my video card is a piece of crap?

hmm, i'm thinking this is a hw issue, maybe even a sw issue (other than mame and mamewah) cause i only get this problem on my cab, everything perfectly goes out to a full screen on my reg desktop pc automatically

I had that issue about a week ago on one of my cabs. I upgraded to the most recent version of MAME and found that even with all the hardware stretching stuff enabled, I still didn't get full screen. I know I had the settings right, I'm no newbie, but what the heck?

I had been meaing to install XP on the machine anyways so I did, and after that I didn't have any further problems.

Weird, huh? dunno ???
