removing a monitor chassis for cap kit install
« on: September 06, 2012, 09:05:35 pm »
All discharge the monitor first advice taken,

I have a WG 19" monitor in an upright cabinet (1981 Megatack) sitting on two "rails" running across the cab.  It appears that the chassis has two "handles" / "hand holes" built in.  I can see being able to access and remove the two bolts on the rear of the chassis but am curious as how to make this a one man job or does monitor removal require two?  Or can the electronics be removed leaving the monitor in place for repair...after discharging ;)  Getting all four bolts out without the monitor falling on to the PCBs seems to be a bit of a puzzle...
Thanks,

usually you can just remove the chassis without having to take out the monitor.

couple of screws or small bolts and the tray the chassis sits in will come right out.

If you insist on removing the monitor (cramped, inaccessible, awkward etc) undo all the cables/wires and loosen off the nuts or bolts holding in the monitor. a 19 should be able to be removed by one person (I do 27's by myself, but I'm pretty strong though)

you don't want to remove just the tube, you want the whole frame and everything.

Thanks Shawn, I found the arcadetips vids on youtube today and they showed that.  I guess I'll buy the series.

Thanks again for your help,
