chassis - earth
« on: October 09, 2003, 07:14:13 am »
Cheerio all,

Just got a nanao Kz18-en chassis repaired (came non-working with the cab I picked up for cheep).

There was no "frame" for the monitor in the cab - the tube was just bolted in to the plywood, with the chassis screwed into the inside of the cab.

As I am in Oz, (240v AC), I have a step-down iso transformer to take me down to 110v for the chassis.

I'm new to all this, so bear with me: My question is this: the primary side of the transformer is connected to a 3 prong plug (active, neutral, earth), while the secondary side just has a two-prong socket.

So do I need to connect the chassis to earth somehow? Do I just run a wire from the small metal PCB support/frame on the chassis to the transformer somehow??

I'd  appreciate any help

Cheers

see this (the topic might be different but the pic is all you need to know)

basically, tie all the earth (green) together and back to the incoming earth from your power supply
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...
