Test equipment upgrade
« on: September 02, 2012, 09:49:28 pm »
Jennifer has decided that the time has come to upgrade, So I went shopping.....Among the the things purchased (pics when it arrives)
is not 1, but 2, Beltron 8080a rejuvinators, well since these seem different than my 470 (BK) I got some questions, Mainly because the seems
little if any information available. So if anybody here knows ANYTHING...I would so very much love to hear from you.

most of those rejuvinators are the same.

I have the 470 and it's a half decent machine.

What i have seen of the 8080 is it has multiple displays so you don't need to switch between colors to measure the gun outputs or monitor voltages which is something I wish the 470 had.

they may use slightly different names (terminology) for things but deep down you basically do the same things.

Did you manage to score a manual of some kind with them? If so, you have won most of the battle right there.

I"m quite new with this rejuv. thing, that said,....Today 1 Beltran showed up, the one without the manual, I got all excited and
hooked it up. None of the adapters fit, so I had to make one, The test was a Sony tube... I may be wrong here and I wont know till
I see the manual with the other one...But unlike the 470, This thing seems to rejuv. @ a lower voltage and a higher amperage, while
fluctuating the heater voltage ,Result Awesome 1st test, This thing is a beast!...The 470 on the other hand seems more newbee/user
friendly, and the adapters are still available.

Yeah, I've heard nothing but good about the 8080's. Nice score, mind how much you got the 8080 for? I might pick one up myself now. ;D

Sounds good.  :applaud: The 470 just seems to crank up the heater, then dump HV into the guns. If the 8080 actively monitors the process you are more likely to have a good longer lasting rejuve since you aren't stressing out the guns more than absolutely necessary.

But yes, you have to give a hand to B&K though, they support their machines for millennia. Given that the pinout on 90% of the tubes that need rejuvenation now have the same pinout on the tube you can make up an adapter and be good.

I got the no maual one for 50(usd), The one with the adapters was a 100...I"m still a bit concered about at apparent lack of
color tracking as an option one these, Guess I should read the manual....I also got a pattern generator (leader 400) now Jen
doesnt have to use the test grid off a pac board anymore!

I don't know specifically about the 8080, but I imagine the "tracking" as referred in the 470 operation could be called something else like bias or not even referenced to at all if the unit shows output of all three guns simultaneously.
