Arcade operator simulator coming to PC and XBLA...
« on: August 30, 2012, 11:12:04 pm »
Saw this today at Joystiq... I guess a "sim-arcade" type game is coming. Looks like games are not licensed, of course. Too bad, I would fill my pretend arcade with Juno First machines. Popular games be damned! I won't sell out!

I wonder if you can call the cops on juvenile delinquents? That would be interesting if you had to deal with vandalism and repairs.

I assume the last level is just redemption machines and tears.

Maybe 1 Pac Man shoved into a dark corner
Everything is a dollar+

Game looks kinda fun, but I'm assuming you have to buy things with real money or you'll be watching 1 game being played for weeks while harvesting quarters.

That's a tie-in with GTA.

What would it matter? Those games don't look like real games, let alone they aren't 80s arcade games. Blech.

I tend to enjoy sim games and am actually looking forward to this release since it ties together two of my hobbies.  Sim games and arcades.

Reminds me when I used to go to the roller rink as a kid (omg I just realized how old i am....) and some juve's realized that they could get free tickets from one of the redemption machines by rolling as fast as they could and slamming into the front of the machine.  I feel bad for that kid who got caught, who realized that the red light going off at the top of it was an alert for the manager sitting in his office? :P

While the games may be fictional, they are definitely based off of real games.

I saw DK, DK Jr, Frogger, Space Invaders, Galaga (or maybe Galaxian), Centipede, Asteroids, Lunar Lander, Joust, Ms. Pacman, and some sort of sit down driving game (I vote for Turbo, but probably supposed to be Pole Position), Xevious, Robotron/Juno First Hybrid? (Cybroids 1999) and Missile Command.

I couldn't figure out what Pumper was (didn't look like Dig Dug).

I will probably get this game, for those times when I want to just play a quick 30 mins.

And if they don't price it something crazy.   :soapbox:

Too bad they didn't license real cabinet titles in the game.  But I'm sure it would've brought up the cost of the game.  I'd pay an extra 10 bucks for it though as an add on pack.

Would make a huge difference with real games.  As is, it looks like it could be a pretty big dud.

Didn't see any pinball machines in that demo, either, come to think of it.

Since you can't play the games, why would make a huge difference either way?

Some pinball would be nice.
