removable flat panel on rails (not a control panel)
« on: August 28, 2012, 10:49:36 am »
Given a nominal thickness of wood (any thickness, 3/4 is a good start). I fabricate a U channel frame for the panel to slide out on a given side when "released". Any ideas, short of a precise cut within the channel, to prevent the panel from shifting around in the frame?

Note, there is a front and back to it. Like a picture frame but I don't want to remove the panel straight out the back because I might not have full access to the back. Hence the need to pull out the side.

I can pull out through the front, but I can't think of anything there either.

You're being pretty vague, but this might be along the lines of what you're looking for.

I'm using the miter t-bar with miter track combo for my current project.
(If I ever get back to working on it.   )

Oh, and Lowe's sells 3/4" aluminum channel to fit plywood.

It might fit a bit tight for your purposes, but it's easy enough to try in the store.

I'm trying not to be, honest. When I'm not err.... busy, i'll do a sketchup.

Those channels seem to perfect. I didn't know they made channels to fit the nominal dimensions.
