Midway Space Invaders coin door lock
« on: August 23, 2012, 11:23:29 am »
Does anyone know the size (length) of the Space Invaders coin door lock?  I looked on the parts list but it only has the old part number, no size.  Thanks

The tape measure knows all....  8)

LOL... actually, locks only come in a few lengths, and if yours is off a bit you can get an "offset" cam to make up the difference either way.  You just need to measure between the back of the coin door and wherever the cam would catch, and there's your answer.  If it's something like 3/4" you can get a 7/8" lock and use a 1/8" offset cam.  You can also get shims (spacers) if the difference is less than that.  For example, on my cab I have a 5/8" lock on the coin door with a straight cam, and a 7/8" lock on the back with a 1/8" offset cam, if I remember correctly.

Thanks! Silly question I guess.  I don't know why but I always struggle with these locks...I hate installing them!  Here's a pic of the lock I used from Lowe's.  A standard 1" with the long straight cam worked fine.  I'll have some more restore questions coming soon as I find time to work on it.
