Ok...I caught the bug...now what?
« on: August 17, 2012, 01:32:58 pm »
Hello all...very happy to be here with others that share the love of arcade.  I always wanted to do this for quite sometime now but now is the time so here I go...

I downloaded the Hyperspin Project and gave a run and it looks really nice.  I have all of my ROMS for the MAME but now what do I need to do for the program to play the games.  I entered the correct path but there seems to be something missing on running the games.

Any help thanks.

Hey, you may want to actually post this question over at the HS forums. Tons of folks to help you over there. Also you'll need to provide more details... is there an error message? What exactly is the problem? Did you go into Hyper HQ and configure the wheels? Not enough info to really help you here.

He may not get much help there either, sounds like he got the version they don't want discussed at the hs forums.

That was quick mamefreak2...thanks for the quick reply...

Well I did some more digging and found this little catch phrase and wala it works now.

"If your roms are not located in the 'roms' folder located in the MAME install folder, games won't launch.  Open a command line (DOS Prompt) in the MAME directory and run the command: mame -cc.  This will create a file called mame.ini.  Open this file and under CORE SEARCH PATH OPTIONS>rompath, change 'roms' to the full pathname where you have placed your roms."

So...I guess I did something right...now onto the other emulators...is there a list of all of their names for all the different consoles?

Thanks.

The names can be set to whatever you want to set them to, look at the file within hyperspin\databases\main menu\  it will tell you what you have set on your wheel.  It all works from xml files and is fairly simple.

Or an easier method is From the hyperspin site go to hyperlist and you will see all the consoles that they have done work with.

hahaha thanks...I had no idea there was an easier way to get all this to work...I have used other FE's and just came across this one...a lot more gui but had no idea what a pain it is to get each of the emulators to work.  Oh well was worth a shot...I guess I will stick to my MAME32 and be done with it.
