Mame not playing working roms...
« on: October 08, 2003, 05:22:01 am »
Im a noob to all this, but have had mame32 running on my laptop for a few years, I am now building my cabinet, so have downloaded command line MAME, and mamewah, and have coppied some of my old roms to the new dedicated machine, the problem I am having is that it will not play many of the games from the laptop.

A good example is MSPACMAN, I have downloaded a new version of the romset and it also does not work either. But both play fine on mame32...

What have I done wrong?

Do have the same version MAME32 as commandline MAME?

It sounds like you may be running an old version of MAME32, and a new version of commandline MAME.  ROMs often change, and may not be compatible with newer versions of MAME.

Either check your roms with ClrMAMEPro (or RomCenter) and update if neccessary, or download the same version of commandline MAME as you have MAME32.

Hope that helps.
