ATI Radeon x300se (pcie) to arcade monitor (quite easy questions!)

hi there first post!
i just got a nice 4 players nba jam machine without pcb's but has a nice wells gardner monitor in there!
i am planning to emutilize the cabinet because the loom is beyond repair.
i know a little bit about normal arcade hardware but have never attempted a pc conversion so i figured i'd ask the experts!

anyway i think i've found a card in my stack of spares that can run modified drivers ( ATI Radeon x300se/pci-e )
however not sure on the best software/card drivers or how to set it up!
and another thing i'm assuming i can just chop a VGA lead and wire it directly to the monitors RGB input?

Correct on the chopping have no idea about the card.

Make your break out cable then wire it up and test your drivers would be the best way.

brilliant, i've had a look on youtube and it looks like  the monitor syncs enough to the standard signal to see what's going on so i'll know if it's hooked up right, then driver tinkering goes from there!
time to make a cable up! thanks for the help! i'll let you know how i get on

i have made a few cables in my time,

to be honest i only hook the pin 5 to ground and forget the rest.

Unless i make my own cable from scratch

just wired it up and the monitor is not working , tacked a jamma pcb back in just to test video, and it's the monitor chassis! this will have to be sent for repair! cable seemed to work so very happy with that!
in the mean time i've found another video card to play with (radeon 9000) so i've got 2 chances in the card department!

i'll keep you posted and let you know how i get on!

good news! i got the monitor fixed and got the rig running (ish)
just bunged in the groovyarcade cd to test however i won't be using this because it's going to take ages to set up right.

the only problem is the picture has a color problem, i've triple checked the cable and it's wired correct (syncs connected together)
i'd say it looks like theres a color missing? monitor is OK with jamma pcb...

i'll upload some photos soon to show my progress. now onto the software
