What I can't fathom is why they had web access enabled on a network that contained the source in the first place. It's not like anyone besides Bill Gates believes MS products are secure.

What he believes and what he tells the public are two different things.  ;)

Thats great.....they'll release it just in time for all our $300 Radeon 9800 Pro cards to be unable to run it at anything more than 20fps :)

I was looking forward to this game, but NOT looking forward to how badly it was going to make my machine CHUG.....My Radeon 9800 Pro and P4 running at 2.4Ghz might not even get me 60fps at 1024x768, and thats with no aa/Ansio turned on...*sigh*...

Well, I'm not worried about my video card. The box that my Voodoo5 came in states that it has all the power to run tomorrows games, and there's a big screenshot of Halo...  my other card is a GeForce Ti4200 and it's not going to cut it either is it? :'(

It always seems that no matter how much I throw into my PC, I always come up short from maximum resolution.  But I never spent more than $100 for a video card so there's my problem.

It's not a beta... its an early alpha... (yes, curiousity got me).

but it was built 4 days before it was suppost to ship.

It's not even close to a game.  A few of the levels have monsters in it.  Gamma settings don't work (lockups are pretty common) so you have to cheat to get the flashlight.

So I turned it off and deleted it so I didn't ruin the game... just to see it in a completely unplayable state.

btw, there isn't a chance it would have been ready anytime soon... unless there was a very different version out there.  Then engine looks done, but very little of the game itself.

but most important.

it runs GREAT on a machine that is affordable.

ati 9500 (bought year+ ago for 150... and I turned OFF the 9700 pro overclocking for testing).  on a 2ghz athlon was VERY playable.

Don't upgrade for it.  you probably wont need to.  I didn't try to run it on my other computer before I deleted it (2.4intel with a geforce4mx... sorry)

but it WILL be cool visually... the question is if they will do a good job on the game to make it fun.  The beta isn't fun.
