help finding batman sideart
« on: August 16, 2012, 05:15:47 am »
Just recently joined this site and is fantastic
I've decided to build myself a cabinet and to make it batman theme. Mind you I am a total amateur, especially at the whole art thing, so where do you guys get the artwork for the side of your cabinets, the kind that doesn't get all blurry and pixelated? where can I find awesome batman ones, preferably 'the batman' cartoon style  :D

any help would be great and thanks in advance  ;)

Welcome aboard, John.

The type of art you are looking for is called "vector" art.  Check out the sticky threads above for general info, site links, etc.

Looked on my list-o'-art links and didn't see any sites with Batman sideart, only one bezel and several w. marquees. (all 3 were photo-style instead of cartoon-style)

You might want to hit the search engines to find the batman vector files you want. (.AI Adobe Illustrator, .PSD Photoshop, .SVG Inkscape, etc.)  Most vector editing programs can import the other formats.

If nothing else, find a good raster image (.JPG, .BMP, etc.) and vectorize it using the methods in Frostillicus' tutorial at http://arcadeartlibrary.com/arcade_art/details.php?image_id=223&mode=search.

Scott

P.S. If you're looking to save some money, Inkscape is free.

Umm, good luck treading water in the deep end of the pool with THAT battleship anchor in your hands.   :dizzy:

Just sayin' you might want to start with something a little more manageable like the oval bat logo.  Seems simple, but it will give you a chance to build up your skills and familiarity with the software.   :dunno

Also found these while i was searching though my old backups, i did these to print directly onto a CDR with a pen plotter, doubt if they are any use to anyone but i figured i might as well post them

-edit - excuse the horrible .ai to .gif preview conversion on the first 2
